In and around Jimena

Ten minutes walk from the house, in the valley below, is the River Hozgarganta, which offers swimming and walking along its banks within the National Park. From the castle, just a few minutes walk up from the house, there are uninterrupted views of Gibraltar and the surrounding countryside. The area around Jimena is picturesque and varied with fertile valleys, with orange groves, forestland and mountains.

Thirty minutes away is the international community at Sotogrande with its championship golf courses, hotels, restaurants, beach and a range of sporting facilities that include tennis and polo. Beach resorts at Estepona and Duquesa are around forty to fortyfive minutes from Jimena and Marbella is around an hour away. Gibraltar has an international airport, duty free shopping, and UK supermarkets and is only forty minutes drive. There are also international airports at Jerez (1hr 15 min) and Malaga (1hr 30 min).

Inland, Ronda, famous for its spectacular gorge and Seville, a modern and vibrant Spanish city are readily accessible for day excursions as is the Grazalema Natural Park, one of Spain’s most spectacular national parks.
